Ok everyone here are some LONG overdue pictures of my newest MINI. I have wanted one of these Xray Pro trucks for the longest time. I could never afford one or find one used until I stumbled into an opportunity to trade for one... and I did not miss the chance! I have not had much track time with it yet, but so far I can say with NO DOUBT, this is the finest, best designed and engineered 18th scale 4x4 stadium truck I have owned!

I just ordered and finally received a set of alloy 1/10 touring car tire adapters right from Team Xrays website and I got a sweet set of double purple 1/10 foams from my buddy Wrench while I was waiting. I have set it up with a New Hitec Metal gear servo, a Castle Creation Brushless 5400 mamba/Sidewinder combo and a 2.4 wireless Tx/Rx from tower hobbies. So I took some pictures of the install and even took a bench test video for you all to check out.

I was very impressed with how well this ESC on/off switch mounted with NO FABRICATION and looks like a really safe and accessible spot as well!

Careful man, all the detta guys will jump you, haha.

Awesome looking ride for sure. I always liked the interesting suspension design of the x-rays.

That does look like a little railin' ripper right there! I've always been intrigued by the Xray's too. I remember reading a pretty decent review I think on oopledotcom where they went through an M18t build up and threw in a few little mods and tips. Might be worth searching for if you are looking for some more info.

I'm really impressed by how well that castle on/off switch mounted up there too! Looks factory clean! I like that.
Very cool rig. Maybe I'll scope it in person one of these days...

I had one of those when ot first came out, yes it was a great truck. But the local parts support was horride so I traded it for a Detta! JUMP! JUMP! You were warned a detta guy would jump on you...lol . It apears you have already taken care of the two weakest points on the car, The stock cvd's broke constantly (like a detta) and you went to the hex adapters. ( stock funky mounting point broke alot). The steering is much more precise than with an 18t, due to the bellcrank setup. And the molding of the plastic parts is outstanding quality. The X-Ray is a great carpet racer, BUT STILL NO DETTA!!!!!!!!! lol had to say it enjoy your new ride it's a good one.

First off, an in general "Thank You" to all of you who took the time to look through way too many pictures and leave your thoughts and opinions.

Now to each comment that needs a more personal response.

Jamus, I AM a 'Detta guy :rc . I love mine and it is a capable truck when properly set-up. That said, when I compare the two, keeping in mind that this is the "Pro" M18T, so it may well not be very a very fair comparison, the X-ray's fit, finish, etc are just better in my eyes. NO aspersions were ever thrown towards the Vendetta ST or it's fans...just my honest opinion.

Wrench.... :doh and here I was thinking what a super nice gesture it was to send me the foams on a holder :drool ...I'll see if I can't get that mailed back to you the next time im in the PO!

Shred, The PRO version has had some glowing reviews that I have stumbled across over the years, and it has proven to be a big race winning platform MANY times over (Not by me of course) I am happy to finally have one to call my own. Thanks for the props on the switch mount, as I am still in awe that A I figured it out all on my own, and B it actually works.... :cheese

Slow...uhm thanks for entering my thread and ignoring me all together :nuts ....and i thought we wuz tight :cry

notfastenough, thanks for a well worded and thought out post. I remember reading your Detta posts and reviews and test data over a year ago and still coming...Great work my man! I would not have expected you to agree me but I am really glad you replied!

Max, great to hear from you again! I have enjoyed my time at HTU very much thanks in LARGE part to Slow taking me under his wing and showin me the ropes. Also I would be remiss if I didnt mention all the other racers there who have made me feel welcome. They have just been an overall great bunch of guys!

The only other issue I had with the xray was in nasty hits I seared off the upper ball from the steering knuckles. There was a simple fix for that, I will check my notes and see if I can find it for you, it may come in handy. When is it gonna hit the track?
