That is my EXACT reasoning!!!!^^^^^^

You need to have a weak point in any design, I use steel CVDs and have disabled my slipper, so the small flex that the plastic bones allow really keeps everything in good shape...I hear so many horror stories abot stripped diffs and what not...I have NEVER stripped a diff in these vehicles even with brushless and lipo...I could be just lucky...or I could be on to something!

Yep brushless lipo in my 18B, and have never stripped a diff gear, just shimmed them and hammer down. KMI has Atomic steel CVD's so figured I'll leave the centers plastic for the same reason. :thumb

Sav is it a center case you need or F/R?

mybe ill make a chassis out of some 1/8 birch plywood.

I use a HSS countersink (burr type) and do them by hand. You will burn it out if you try to do it with a drill motor or a dremmel!

And score the lines into the CF not just marker. Then cut as straight as ya can but leave just a little on the outside edge. Then use the diamond drum style bits to sand it to the line. Take your time and use a dust mask, it will come out fine!

The CF chassis from holeshot comes with the plate and the flip holes done for you SAV, so the lipos are still a possibility!!!

I dunno sav, Im not real proud of it! but nothing good came to mind so I just found some flat alloy (plastic works too) cut it to fit batteries and chassis (bottom) then drill a couple holes through the chassis, and into the plastic. Then take some scotts tape and tape it to the flatpiece for easy swapping, then screw the 2 together..

again, not fancy but it works well

good velcro is also a good temp fix!

I had simular issues for the longest...It is the spring when tightend the washer slips out of round and causes there to be a sticky spot in the mesh. I used the 3r and just enough pressure to hold it there, then went to a smaller washer...has not had a bind or a screech since

I still have the chassis you used as a template for this...Was wondering if that was what was going on with it. Any extra clearance for a longer can with this mod? Was kicking around trying the titan 380 brushed but it's too long to mount in the stock location

This is TOOOOO funny, that KMI was one of mine? or did the chassis just get thrown in somewhere along the way?

anyway I honestly THINK it will fit with some love...but its been too long to be sure...just bolt on an engine mount on the flip chassis and do a little checking!

Yeah.....just sick of taking that thing apart all the time LOL......I'm thinking about keeping it 2wd, seems like the reduced drag & such netted me a bit more speed, and it still drives good. Think with that std servo I need a radio where I can program the endpoints to get it set the way I want it.....why I'd almost rather pawn it off for something else that's less finicky. Thing could become a money pit real quick

Heck, the money I'd spend on the metal diff gears would buy me a nice used whatever. Guess it comes down to preference in the end. I see trying to work on this thing trackside as being a bit of a nightmare, and there are a whole lot of parts for me to drop in the dirt. I prefer simplicity over fancy; I'd rather have a well sorted camaro vs a stock ferrari

Well if I may make a suggestion? In the 1/16 size you would do well to get a Duratrax Vendetta ST. This truck is simple and tough, it needs just a few upgrades to make it a tank, and there are a few guys here like Notfast enough and Randy1 who can really help ya as far as set-up and getting the right parts first! I have one myself and I really love the thing it has been a great truck...I cant seem to get it set for the RCP for my style but on the dirt that thing is a real BEAST! It is a force even with just the stock VST motor and Lipo and upgraded axles.

From what you've said about the KMI the detta is prolly more up your ally

Actually I was eyeballing the rally version since it comes with the tactic 2.4. Just waiting to see how it all shakes out; if I'm stuck with it I'll wind up doing something with it. :remote
