Mods so far:
Threaded axles
Bearings
Metal lock nuts (not pictured)

Still running stock motor, will replace with BB2 when it goes. I use the stock battery plus I have 2x 180mah losi lipos.

My diff was too tight and turning one wheel, the other would turn the same direction.
I took the trans case apart, gears looked fine. Put it back together and left the screws a little loose. It freed up after that.

I have two dogs and between the dirt they bring in and hair that falls off of them, I have practically no traction on my tile floor. Even if it's freshly mopped.
I have to use doormats and rugs to patch together a small track with some jumps. I've only ran it outside once, did much better on pavement.
It was also impressive on dirt, but even the smallest particle is like a boulder to this thing, so I didn't drive in the dirt too much.

I'm thinking about stripping the paint and doing something different. Maybe black to match my Slash.
I didn't get to choose the color but I'm glad it wasn't blue. It would have been stripped and repainted a long time ago.

I don't really have many pics of my DT. No videos either. Haven't been driving it a whole lot.

Nice micro. Miss mine every time I see one lol. The threaded axle mod is a must. The stock clips are horrible. :puke

This thing is amazingly quick, at least indoors or confined areas where bigger rc's can only go slow.
Outdoors, still impressive for it's size but out in the open it looks really small. It's still a little fast for it's own good, but it's awesome.
It's crazy that these little 6" (or less) rc's will hit 30mph.

I got a little help when I was thinking about getting one. I ordered the threaded axles, bearings and 2 lipos (1 w/charger) when I ordered the MDT.
I think I only ran it a couple times the day I got it before I installed the upgrades.

When the stock motor goes, I'm going to replace it with the BB2.

Since I have basically no traction on tile floor, I'm thinking about getting these wheels from AtomicMods.com - http://www.atomicmods.com/Products/Atomic-Micro-T-AW-Groove-Tire-(FR)--10-Deg__13608.aspx
Putting them on the silver wheels pictured on that page.

I saw a few other mods/upgrades I'd like to do on www.microtforum.com
One thing I saw was a Micro Raminator with wide-track arms. But I'm only going to upgrade things as they break.

I might get a different body for it, tho I don't think they make many style (if at all) for the DT.
Was thinking about stripping the paint off and re-painting it.

I kinda have a lot going on and have a few vehicles that need finishing. I'll get to what can, when I can. Not really in a rush.

Did you ever get around to upgrading this little ripper? Or has it been too solid as is?
I'm looking to convert a Baja to a DT, and going with the larger DT specific 3S lipo in combination with the BB2 motor.... wondering how that combo would work out.

The only mods I've done are: Bearings, threaded axles with metal lock nuts to replace the plastic nuts the threaded axle kit comes with. I had to open the trans case to free up the gears a little cuz the diff wasn't working properly. I also got a couple 2s Losi lipos.

Since I have tile floors, this thing pretty much gets no traction and just turns itself around constantly. Even with the stock battery. When the stock motor goes, I'm gonna get the BB2 motor. Lipo and Brushless in something this size is just ridiculous. Maybe if you got a track or a large carpeted area, then it would work better but still be insane.

Yeah, I see what you're saying. I think the brushless might be quite a bit overboard for my application too, even though my basement is fairly wide open...

Based upon other recommendation, I will avoid the 3S lipo and just go 2S, as the 11.1v would definitely fry the stock esc/rx unit, and even if I only get the $14 BB2 motor, if I need another esc it will cost me as much as the entire brushless combo!? More if I go with a novak spy and seperate rx or something like that.

I would definitely go with bearings and threaded axles.
The plastic nuts that come with the threaded axle kit are ok, but for $5 +shipping (from Tower) you can get a pack of 8 2mm Locknuts from Tamiya.

With everything freed up and moving nicely in my DT, it's pretty quick and helps get a little longer run time.
Personally, I wouldn't go brushless. But that's just me. The BB2 motor and 2s would be just as good and way cheaper.

I have two of the Losi 2S lipos, got one with a wall charger.
It takes about 40 minutes to charge but between the two lipos and the stock nimh pack, the wait isn't that bad.

The 2S lipos definitely give it more pep on the stock motor. When that goes I'm gonna get the BB2.
If you can keep your finger from going full throttle, brushless would have longer run times.
Going all out with such a little RC on brushless/lipo would make it a little tough to follow and you'd be replacing stuff a lot.

I'm not really looking to go crazy and upgrade to aluminum and carbon fiber parts. I spend too much upgrading/replacing stuff on my bigger RC's.
My micro may get fully decked out one day but I'm pretty happy where it is now.

I got some aluminum micro parts in today. I was pretty happy to be able to finally drive my brushless micro. I bought it a while ago but it came with an FM Synth rx and I don't have any matching radio gear so I couldn't drive it. I didn't have a small enough 2ch 3-wire receiver so after I sold a bunch RC parts I wasn't using, I got the losi micro 3-wire from AMain and a bunch of aluminum parts from TheToyz.

I can NOT catch a break with this damned brushless micro. Like I said, I bought and couldn't run it because of mismatching radio gear. 2 days later my dog chewed up the wheels. A week or two ago Wrench sent me a couple wheels so I could get some rubber back on it. I was having a hard time with one wheel and found out today what went wrong. First, I had an issue getting the wheel on the axle so I took a small screwdriver and opened up the hole. It went on smoothly but then I couldn't tighten the wheel nut and the wheel spun freely. Today I found out there's a flat spot on the axle and in the hole on the wheel. I'm glad Wrench threw in second rear wheel/tire but it's a different color so eventually I'm gonna have to buy a new set of chrome wheels/tires. While I was messing with the wheels I noticed the screws in the toe links were backed out a bit and as I was tightening one down in the aluminum drag link... it broke. Luckily it came with a bunch of spares so I threw a stock one on it. Last week I bought Wrench's micro lot cuz it there were some aluminum parts and a few other things I could put to use. I found one of the alloy c-hubs had a screw broken off in it and when I was putting on the knuckles I broke a screw off in one of those. Today when I looked at the parts that came... I found that I had mistakenly ordered 2 front DT shock towers and one of them was for some reason a color I didn't intend to purchase. After I got all the good stuff on and got it looking nice, I moved on to the receiver. When I finished with that I went to plug in a battery and test it out only to find the red wire pulled out of the esc!

I've about had it with this damn thing and put all the good stuff on my stock Micro and sell this turd.
First I'm gonna contact Losi and see if they can repair/replace the xcelorin esc... maybe find someone willing to try to fix it for me.

Anyway, here's what it looks like with the new parts...
I'm working on alternating the colors between silver and blue. I also got a blue DT body from Wrench, just no pics of it yet.

Sav asked about watermarks earlier and it got me thinking, so I found a Photoshop CS3 and started playing with a photo.
After adjusting the colors a little, refining the sharpness and making my own little watermark... this is what I came up with:

Image

Not sure if it's technically a watermark... but it looks good.
I found a tutorial on youtube and I did what it showed but added a few tweaks.
